Another year has gone by... We've done a little bit of work on the house, rented our upstairs apartment, traveled more, spent more time with family, relaxed, and we've come to find another project for our future...
So here are some pictures of the final work we did on the upstairs apartment. The apartment was rented last August to a young professional couple around our age. They are very nice and have been great tenants.

We'll that's a difference!!!
Once we finished and rented out the upstairs we started work primarily on the backyard.
This is what the yard looked like at the end of the summer last year.
This summer its much more filled in with plantings,a new Japanese maple, a finished shed, a new fence, and a wooden patio set.

The ground cover came from small plantings from my mother's and grandmother's yards. I had to slowly spread it over the year to get this final look between the paver stones.
The fence was modeled after a fence my grandfather Kilduff designed in his yard in Hampton, VA. I think we spent 6 or more weekends working on this fence due to its intricate detailing. The coolest thing about is that it offers privacy from the main road, but if your walking up the alley you can see little glimpses of the garden.

It's been 4 years now since we purchased this house in 2010. We've been through a lot of tough and trying times, but we made it!! We love our new home and now spend more time enjoying each other's company trying to relax....
Oh and by the way, what happens after you get married, build your home, and find too much time to relax???
Only one thing....
We will be welcoming a baby boy into our world this December 2014!!
We are thrilled with this new adventure ahead!! So our next project for the fall is a nursery... Stay tuned!
